History

OBS is launched with the former iTV FM employees in 2007. OBS is the private commercial broadcaster in South Korea with no affiliate.

However, the network faced a challenge when Kim was accused by Lee Myung-bak (South Korea's then-President) of corruption. Kim was under pressure, and surrendered both iTV FM and OBS Kyeongin TV to the Young-Ahn Hats, Inc. in February 2008. Although the network is now managed by the Young-Ahn Hats, OBS has maintained its role as a private broadcaster. It began television broadcasting on December 27, 2007 (OBS-TV was the third TV network in korea. MBC-TV was launched on Aug.8,1969 and SBS-TV, which both network is owned by SBS-MBC Media Holdings, was launched in 1991, both SBS and MBC had a shop for the Koreans)

Under the Ha Geum-Ryeol and Kim Jae-Cheol regime, SBS and MBC's media policy had changed. The regime had closed non-government, non-MBC and non-SBS networks and OBS, with the former broadcaster, iTV FM were forced to give most of its shares to the SBS Media Holdings, losing its position as a non affiliate broadcaster. On November 14, 2009, 100% of the network's stock was given to the Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS) and Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC).

Partly to address concerns following the media's 2010 democratic reforms, the Young-Ahn Hats, Inc established the Media Will and KD Group on December 25, 2010 to insulate OBS Kyeongin TV from MBC and SBS. Although the network is now managed by the Young-Ahn Hats, OBS has maintained its role as an independent private broadcaster. It began television broadcasting on December 27, 2007. Now, the network is owned by the Young-Ahn Hats, Inc. (which owns 22.64% of the company's stock), while the Media Will owns 12.43% and KD Group owns 12.30% also Maeil Dairy Products owns 7.00% then Techno Semichem owns 6.00% and the other shareholders are owning 39.63%.

OBS Kyeongin TV had two jingles since 2007: Korean:"OBS...경인...TV", "OBS...Kyeongin...TV" in romanization and others: "OBS...Your Light of Hope and Share".
